Hi ppl i need some help with this assignment and the qeustion is:
describe whether: the position of the above element in the periodic table e.g. left to right has an effect on its chemical reaction

What do i do?????? Sad

Need answer A.S.A.P hopefully by Sunday

The question you posted is written in a confusing way. Are you sure you copied it correctly?

It talks about "the above element in the periodic table". Is there some diagram that goes with this or is it asking about the element above any other element that you're investigating? I also don't know what "left to right" has to do with this question. I don't understand, sorry. Sad

In general elements will act chemically very much like the elements directly above and below them, though there are certain trends. There are also trends from left to right within a period. In general, elements within the same group (vertical column) act similarly chemically but are different physically, while the opposite is true for elements in the same period (horizontal row).
