Default palmitoyl acid

Hi!!! I want to ask you something.. I have to work up search about this: My theme is Isolation of palmitoyl acid from triacylglycerols and Synthesis of palmitoyl acid from accessible resources..I have been searching a lot of books, but I havenīt found anything..
Is there anybody who can help me with this... Any information about this acid could help me.. thanx

Triacylglycerols (TAGs) are basically fats - three fatty acids (FAs) linked to glycerol.

I believe the proper name for "palmitoyl acid" is actually palmitic acid (PA). You can check chemfinder.com for the structure. It's a linear 16 carbon molecule with the carboxylic acid group on the end carbon.

To isolate PA from TAGs, you'd need a TAG with that FA substituted on the glycerol backbone. Then you'd need to sever the ester bonds connecting the FAs to the glycerol, and then you'd need to separate the PA from the other FAs and the glycerol.

thank you.. I have made a mistake.. the right acid I was talking about is palmitoleic acid.. Thank you for your reply, I know a lot of about chemistry (I hope.. because I have been studying that for 5 years... but now I have to solve this concrete problem with its synthesis and isolation from TAG(triacylglycerols)...
I have to write 10-15 pages about that..

It is really difficult to fint anything about palmitoleic synthese or isolation... does anybody have an idea?

Isolating palmitoleic acid from TAGs is just involved breaking the ester bonds and then doing a separation technique like chromatography.

I don't know off hand how to synthesize it. I might be able to look into it later when I have more time. You're going to have to find ways to make a long carbon chain.

I know a lot of ways how to prepare long carbon carboxylic acid (Arndt- Eistert synthese >> I get 16 carbon carboxylic acid, but then I have got problem.. I dont know how the change it to be unsaturated ( double bond from 9th carbon, it must be in cis configuration) to be cis - 9 - hexadecenoic acid (palmitoleic)

What about a reversed ozonolysis? Is this possible?

If you can find a way to put any functional group on either or both of the two carbons double bonded in the final molecule, that would give you something to work with.

Anyone have any other ideas?
