Metals- most are solids at room temperature, shiny and lustrous, malleable, good conductors of heat and electricity, ductile(can be pulled into a thin wire).
Nonmetals tend to be gases at room temperature although some are solids and one is a liquid, they are brittle, and poor conductors of heat and electricity.
