Default Magnesium Burning

What two things would you observe when a piece of magnesium is burned in air?

You see an intense white light, but what you don't see is that it also produces intense UV light. Your eyes can't see UV light, but they can be permanently damaged by it. For this reason, you shouldn't look directly at burning magnesium without UV shields.
