Default Carbon Monoxide Testers

I'm looking for some advice about carbon monoxide testers. It looks like it's a good idea to have one but I read that you're not meant to have them in bedrooms and you're not meant to have them within 15 feet of any fires or gas burners. I eat, live and sleep in my studio apartment. It measures 15 feet by 14 feet. As the weather gets colder I'm using a gas heater. Do you know if there's anything I could use to test for carbon monoxide without triggering a false alarm?

I'd agree with you except can you get pros who can so this? Aren't CO detectors pretty cheap and you just buy them and put them in the recommended places?

hey ithink, there's no problem putting a CO detector in a bedroom, so don't worry about that. Thor's right about getting advice from a pro. Also check your State's laws. If you don't own your apartment it may be that your landlord must fit a CO alarm or they'll be breaking the law. I don't know how you'll do the 15 feet thing but you get CO detectors for recreational vehicles like this http://www.mtiindustries.com/re2.htm, so it must be possible. Probably someone in a store that sells them will be able to get you the right thing.
