Default What is the correct definition for co2?

Random; but what is the correct definition for co2 and what is it utilized for?

Its carbon dioxide. Mostly its released when we burn anything with carbon in it, like wood or paper or gasoline or coal. Its causing global warming. It doesn't have a lot of uses but its good at putting out fires so you get it in fire extinguishers and dry ice at rock concerts is frozen carbon dioxide.

Talking carbon dioxide

the ''O2'' in any chemical will have ''di'' before oxide i bet thats wrong
but i do know that you should NOT use CO2
to put out magnesium fires !!

Carbon Dioxide + Water --------> (photosynthesis) --------> starch + oxygen.

Without CO2 there would be no plants and no animals.

Excellent point Pete. Chemists get used to thinking of carbon dioxide as a waste product, while all the while it actually lies at the heart of biology.
