Hi, this is my first post so forgive me if I do it wrong or sound dumb.
I am in a chemistry class and i have to look up if something is a element, which I can do ok at. The other stuff gets alittle confusing for me, Compounds, Solutions, and Heterogeneous mix's. The things I need to determine what they are vary, Rain Water, Ground Pepper, Window Glass Beach Sand etc.................. Is there a site or table where you can type anything in and get it's physical or chemical properties at for dummys? Thanks |

Not sure if this was what you were looking for, but at the bottom of the page it has links to all the elements and their information.

A compound is any molecule. It's any two or more atoms joined by covelant or ionic bonds. Solutions are when something dissolves in a liquid and the molecules of the substance become evenly distributed in the liquid and won't settle out. A heterogenous mixture is when you mix liquids and other liquids or solids and they don't dissolve together, but instead are different at different points; milk is an example. Even though it looks the same everywhere, there are actually little droplets of fats and stuff suspended in it, and if you let it sit, the fats will separate out.
