What are exceptions to the trend in the periodic table and why? i can't seem to find any...

It depends what types of exception you are looking for, for example Bromine and mercury are the only elements in liquid phase at stp, Hydrogen is paced above the alkali metals but its properties are not similar.
More advanced ecamples include Cr and Cu not following aufbau principle...
There are numerous others. If you could provide more info on what type of exception it would be useful..
