That's for the solution of weak base, but you have to do the calculations using exactly the same equation - 8.10 or 8.13.

Best,

Based on what I was given, I was unable to find a solution for the problem. Since I am having a hard time finding out how to use the source given, can someone please calculate the problem and let me know what answer the get? Thanks in advance.

I got an answer of 12.17 when I attempted the problem but have no idea if I am right at all.

Is there any data given other than the Ka of HNO2?

as pH is dependent on the concentration you must be given this before you can calculate the pH of any solution

eg. the pH of 0.1M HCl is vastly different from the pH of 0.0001M HCl whereas the pKa value is a constant for a given temperature (usually 25ºC)
