some help in college chemistry

hi

well im doing a telecomunication degree and im in my 1st year.but i have to few modules on heat and fluids which needs knowladge of chemistry.but i have not done chemistry at A/L(high school) but uni expect me to wind relevent infor from books or from the net. so i have two general questions .if sum one can help me on this it is greatly appritiated

1.)What are the systems involved in a furnace? explain how they are integrated to improove performance

2.describe some of the technical aspects in managing combustion in an industrial application.

Furnace system chemically:

Combustion: fuel and air input ----> energy and exhaust output

Circulation of hot gases..... air enters at the bottom heats up with the energy present .... reacts with fuel.... creates more energy..... hot exhaust gases rise by convection currents ... leave at top reducing pressure inside the furnace drawing more cool air into the bottom.

Technical aspects

Heat proof cladding, system for fuel entry as required, system for exhaust draw off and air entry .... efficiency improved if the air is pre-heated using the hot exhaust gases
