Default Calculator

Is the TI-84 silver edition worth the extra money because of its preloaded periodic table and other programs? How useful will this calculator be in calculating moles, doing conversions, significant digits, and other chemistry functions? Will the regular TI-84 or maybe TI-30XA do as well?

The pertinent class is a first year chem class for science majors but does not have a math requirement and I don't know if I'll be taking the math. If the TI-84 plus silver edition isn't going to be fairly helpful in chemistry, I'd rather save the money.

Thanks for your advice.

First year chem for science majors? The math is mostly simple algebra I think. I don't know that this calculator can do but those advanced graphing calculators are more useful for math and physics than chemistry if I remember correctly. If you're concerned about spending the money I'd avoid buying it unless you see other students using it and finding it useful.

Yeah you are correct that the Mathematics is the

most simple Algebra....Still the basics of any subject is the essence and the

core of it.

yeah i completely agree with robjim if you see others using it and it helping them a lot. i have one and it does help if you absolutely have to have the periodic table on that road trip, other than that i wouldnt really worry about it and save the money. but it i a pretty silver =)

Default Worth it.

This is worth the extra money. I have one and the additional features are a big time saver. If I were you I would get it.
