Sorry to drag up an old topic, but about the whole "root of all elements thing". It makes sense that if the universe was created out of nothing, the simple elements would be far more abundant and would fission to make heavier elements. In fact, Hydrogen makes up 97% of all elements and Helium make up almost all of the other 3%. Together they make up 99.99% of all elements. This makes perfect sense but something doesn't fit. Earth is way different. It has very little hydrogen or helium and is made up of much heavier elements. One might say that this is by chance but that is exceedingly unlikely. I have to disagree with RobJim about how everything came to be. It is far more likely that everything was created. I am a Christian and think that it was God who made everything. Anyway, that's my opinion.

Our gravity isn't strong enough to keep Hydrogen or Helium in our atmosphere.

being a christian and beliving in god does not imply telling wrong things. if your personal believe collides with your scientific then leave one, and please quit telling stupid scientific things.
according to your "thesis" all other planets in our solar system are made of H and He, which is not correct. it is a fact that jupiter and saturn are mostly made of these two elements, but their gravity is way higher than earths.

with your point of view scientific progress goes BOINK

Default New physics?

Just out of curiosity how do the lighter elements manage to produce the heavier elements by fission?

God really does move in mysterious ways...
