so i balance the equation.

CS2 + 2(O2) ---> CO2 + (SO)2
unfortunately this is not correct, it should read

CS2 + 2(O2) ---> CO2 + 2SO2

now, I check to see how many moles correspond to 1.55 grams of CS2
=
.00828 mol CS2
this is correct..

now you simply look at the stoichiometry of the equation to see that 1 mole of CS2 makes 1 mole of CO2 and 2 moles of SO2

therefore:
0.00828 mol CS2 makes 0.00828 mol of CO2
and 2x 0.00828 mol of SO2

Now calculate masses from mass = moles x RMM

the oxygen is irrelevant providing there is enough (you are not asked for it)
