How do you find the # of protons and neutrons in an element :?:
Here's how.

Mass # = # of protons + # of neutrons

# of neutrons = Mass # - # of protons

# of protons = atomic # for neutral atoms.

Radium has an atomic number of 88 and a mass number of 226. For radium therefore:

# of protons = 88

# of neutrons = mass # - # of protons = 226 - 88 = 138

I hope this helps you.
