I'll give you some of the answers off the top of my head (too busy studying for a chem final to research for you)
1. 6.02 x 10^23 = avagadros number (the number of atoms in a mole of a compound)
15. Iron(III) oxide = Rust (common name)...dunno what the hell they want for the chemical name....maybe "Ferrous oxide" since ferrous means "iron" with 3+ charge
17...any of the elements in the furthest column to the right of the periodic table..called "noble gases"..i guess choose one to answer the question.
22. SiO2; Common name and chemical name required. --> SIlicon dioxide (chemical name)..common name: glass
23. Polar molecules. Common name, chemical name, chemical formula required-->try looking up 'protic'
24. A metalloid. Common name, chemical name, chemical formula required. -->anything on the right side of the table which is along the line separating metals and non metals. Usually shown on a periodic table by a line witht he metalloids a different colour from the metals and non metals around them..I think Ge and Sb are two for example.
27. A hydrocarbon with a molecular weight of > 100. Common name, chemical name, chemical formula required.-->I believe what they are talking about are polymers. (eg, polyethylene, polystyrene etc)
28. Nonpolar molecules. Common name, chemical name, chemical formula required.-->try looking up 'aprotic'
29. An amount of water whose temperature would change by 15 oC when it absorbed 630 calories of heat energy. Calculations required. (no work, no credit, no kidding) -->use the formula q=mC deltaT(delta looks like a triangle) to calculate
34. An alkaline earth hydroxide. Chemical formula, common name and chemical name required. --> metal from the second column of the periodic table..Eg Mg(OH)2
38. A nonmetal. Define nonmetal. Common name and chemical formula required. -->anything on the far right of the peridoic table (eg, Oxygen, carbon, nitrogen)
43. A molecule with bonding that follows the octet rule. Common name, chemical name, chemical formula required.--> only about 3 atoms actually follow the rule strictly. Carbon does every time, so i suggest and compound with carbon atoms.
45. 2-propanol. Common name and chemical formula required--> Common name=Rubbing alcohol...can also be called "isoproyl alcohol". Basically 3 carbon chain, with an OH group on the middle Carbon, hydrogens attached to the carbons to complete octet.
Sorry I can't help much more then that, but tried to point you in the right direction and give you help off the top of my head..Now i better get back to studying for my 3rd yr. Spectroscopy course..exam tomorrow
