Relative Molecular Mass (Mr)

Why is the Relative Molecular Mass defined by using 1/12 of an atom of carbon-12 and not hydrogen-1 or any other element for that matter?

I guess it's because C-12 is defined as a standard element :?

I found it out; it was actually a historical thing that chose carbon.

It's quite interesting.
