polarizability

Dear People,
I have just search the web and found the definition of polarizability.Just to make sure, is electric dipole polarizability = polarizability?provided that polarizability is the relative tendency of the electron cloud of an atom to be distorted from its normal shape by the presence of a nearby ion or dipole(electric dipole?)
Is it true or am i just making false assumptions?
So can i say polarizability is electric dipole polarizability?
Please help :?:
