Perkin Elmer 337 IR spectrophotometer
I worked with a model similar to the 337 in the early 80's, at the University of Maryland, but I don't remember which one it was. Has anyone here used one of these? Where can you get a new detector for it?

Whoa does that 337 bring back memories.
Chain drives and all! Used one in the early 80's up to about 1990. Had an old PE AA about the same time...some rugged boat anchors!! Fine stuff. No service no parts for either after 1990... Then around 1995 we went to the Nicolet Impact 410 FT instuments and they were great, Loved them. Tried to buy a source for it a couple of years ago for it and that was tough now that Thermo bought out everybody. Ocean Optics, I think, pretty much has wallet size insturments these days. Man would I love to run a nujol on a set of salt plates on the bad boy... Hope you find a detector for it! Good Luck! Terry |
Check out the discussion here.
http://www.diyaudio.com search the forum for 337 (author = 7n7is). There is a detector from a Perkin Elmer model 710B IR in it. see http://chemapparati.topcities.com/PE337/PE337-5.htm I ran a spectrum of polystyrene film on it a number of times and the resolution isn't too bad. |
THis might work.
