equation

I'm trying to balance the equation for c4h404 + na2co3. This is maleic acid and sodium carbonate. I think that part of the product is h2o and co2 but I am not sure about the salts. Anybody know?

Thanks for previous help.

The salt produced will be NaHCO3

Balancing equation

Using NaHCO3 as the salt (is it a salt? Looks like sodium bicarbonate), I can't get the equation between maleic acid and sodium carbonate to balance. I'm trying
C4H4O4 + Na2CO3 = NaHCO3 + H2O + CO2

Any ideas?

maleic acid is a dicarboxylic acid, the carbonate group neutralises both of the acid groups in the maleic acid

HOOCCH=CHCOOH + Na2CO3 --> NaOOCCH=CHCOONa + CO2 + H2O
